CCS is headquartered in Frederick, MD, and provides a full range of equipment, controls and software that help customers address all aspects of their material handling and industrial automation needs. Serving customers in the distribution, e-commerce, fulfillment, mail/parcel and government sectors, their mission is to provide innovative, cost-effective, quality systems and solutions for their customers. With unparalleled support and customer service, along with being ISO9001:2008 certified, CCS is committed to continuous improvement in an effort to provide the highest level of value for customers.
As a long-time Synergis customer, CCS has been leveraging Autodesk design tools, including Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD LT, Autodesk Product Design Suite Premium and Ultimate, and most recently, Autodesk Vault Professional.
The Challenge
CCS had been using an electronic documentation system for storage and retrieval since the mid-90s. Over time, this was used to also store engineering drawings. Not intended for this, storing drawings was cumbersome, and became riddled with unnecessary files.
The Solution
With the current documentation management system no longer fitting their needs, coupled with moving to the most recent release of the Autodesk solutions, CCS looked to Synergis to help find the best document management solution for their needs. After looking at several different scenarios with the help of their Synergis Account Manager, Autodesk Vault Professional was selected.
The Result
Autodesk Vault Professional software helps designers and engineers organize their design data, manage documentation, and track revisions and other development processes. Vault is allowing CCS to have better control over their engineering drawings, easily create and update bills of material, and ensure the most current approved drawings are available.
Starting with the ISO documentation, CCS is now using Vault throughout their organization. Some of the initial success CSS is seeing with Vault is within the purchasing department, where BOMs can be pulled up as needed for parts orders and drawing revision levels verified, to ensure the right item is being fabricated. For engineering, everything is logged, checked in, approved and released from within Vault, making this an easy-to-access repository of data and documentation.
“Vault provides us with better accessibility to drawings, data, documents, and parts lists. By having an electronic parts list or BOM, when a change is made to a part number or drawing, we can see what all is effected by using the Where Used tab in the Item Master. We didn’t have that capability before.”
