This is a quick note for BIM/CAD Managers. If you’ve ventured into the Autodesk cloud with your projects, you’re likely familiar with some of the similarities and differences to Office 365 and OneDrive. When setting up the parent “drive” with Autodesk, the name provided often has the corporate initials or other characters that just shouldn’t be included. Renaming your hub is rather simple as it turns out.

Go to ACCOUNT ADMIN>SETTINGS and then click Edit. Make any name changes needed and click OK.

It may take up to 20 minutes for this change to sync. We’ve also noticed some folks need to exit and re-launch the desktop connector.

CAUTION – DO NOT DO THIS WHILE USERS ARE EDITING FILES. WAIT UNTIL EVERYONE HAS CLOSED AND SYNCED ANY FILES.

The good news, even if you do rename the hub while files are open, the desktop connector is flushing the old hub name files to the recycle bin.

How did I learn this? I renamed the hub in the middle of the day. And now you know the rest of the story.
