Synergis Life & Accomplishments

Tom joined Synergis 11 years ago, supporting the sales team in acquiring new accounts. He quickly progressed to an account management role, working directly with customers, and in 2020, was promoted to Manufacturing Sales Manager, where he leads our sales team and maintains a select number of accounts to support and oversee. The consummate customer advocate, Tom’s commitment to seeing the best outcomes for our customers shows in all he does and in the positive change customers see in their businesses after implementing technology and working closely with the Synergis team.

Tom is a graduate of DeSales University with a degree in Political Science. He believes that both luck and honesty, in that order, have contributed to his success But if you ask anyone at Synergis, they will say that in addition to luck and honesty, Tom’s work ethic, customer advocacy, excellent product and industry knowledge, along with a good dose of humor, have all played a part in his success. “Tom is a hard worker who always puts his customers first,” said Barbie Mahovich, Sr. Director of Sales. “No Matter what time of day he will make the customer his top priority. Tom is a true asset and leader for his team and the Synergis customer.”

When asked about working at Synergis and specifically our Family Values, Tom shared that he embraces #4 – Act with Honesty and Integrity. “This is what it all boils down to for me. This mindset persists through our employees, and I believe it’s why people choose us.”

Family Life

Tom and his wife, Lindsay, who is a nurse practitioner, live in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. They are loving parents to their 7 year old son, Colin, who will be entering first grade in the upcoming school year.

While growing up, Tom enjoyed doing “nerd” stuff like playing video games and reading comic books. Nowadays, he enjoys being able to share those passions with his son.

A cause close to Tom’s heart is pediatric cancer, as Colin is a cancer survivor. “Colin has been showed an incredible amount of kindness from strangers through organizations like the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley.” The photo above was taken during their September 2021 “Make a Wish” trip to Disney World. Tom and his family aspire to spread awareness of their cause wherever possible.

One of Tom’s proudest moments was when Colin’s teacher disclosed to him and Lindsay just how empathetic and caring Colin is to the other children in his class. “Colin goes out of his way to be inclusive and help fellow classmates.” Colin is truly living the Synergis Family Values!

Interesting Facts

Besides being an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, Tom also enjoys strategy board games, and, like most of us, the internet is something with he cannot live without.

Tom shared that his favorite movie will most likely change in any given month. Currently, his favorites are The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, V For Vendetta, and Seven Pounds, “an underrated and obscure Will Smith movie.”

If given the opportunity to reside anywhere in the world, Tom would opt for a private island, but with a few small incidentals like air conditioning, internet (of course!), a baseball field with a pitching machine, and unlimited amounts of his favorite food, Crème Brulee.

Ideals & Philosophies

Tom strives to live a wonder-filled life. “To be curious about everything and never stop learning. When I became a father I promised myself that I would never discourage my son from asking ‘why,’ no matter how ill-timed the questions are!”

A favorite quote of Tom’s is by Randy Pausch, a one-time professor at Carnegie Mellon, who delivered a captivating memoir-like lecture in the face of Stage 4 Cancer. “If your kids want to paint their bedroom…let them do it. It’ll be OK. Don’t Worry.” It’s important for us to realize what really matters in life, and to prioritize creativity, love, and curiosity.
