Giving Back

This month’s #synergisCADspotlight is on Kristen Tilwick, or “KT2” as we warmly call her within the walls of Synergis. Kristen joined us in 2012 and has served as a Strategic Account Manager on our AEC Team for most of her tenure.  She quickly earned her nickname (KT2) since she was the “second” Kristen T. in the company.  In 2020, Kristen was promoted to AEC team lead, and in this role, she is responsible for supporting all our AEC-focused staff.  Kristen feels her primary responsibility is helping her customers maximize their investment in Autodesk software which often includes engaging with Synergis for training, BIM consulting, or implementation services.

Kristen is one of the most positive and enthusiastic people you will meet.  Her energy is infectious and, when coupled with her industry experience and expertise, her passion for helping others shows.  If you’ve had the pleasure of working with KT2, then you know that she truly values all her customers and the long-standing relationships she’s built with them.  And, if you speak to one of her customers, you’ll quickly learn that many consider her a part of their extended team or family.

Speaking of family, what Kristen loves most about working at Synergis is her Synergis family: “You truly feel valued here and your input matters.  We work in a culture where we help one another in all aspects of life – both personally and professionally.  We are there for each other – no matter what.”

Although her Synergis family is a major part of her life, Kristen’s biological family is the most important thing to her. Covid was especially challenging for her after her father had major surgery last year; for many who were hospitalized or in rehab centers, visitation was forbidden due to Covid protocols, so KT2 was unable to be with him through several months of healing. Dealing with all the challenges of Covid, Kristen learned how important it was to adapt and change.  She says, “I have learned over the years, and especially last year, that you have to embrace change and be able to adapt to the ever-changing world we live in.  Whether that is in your personal life or your career, change is inevitable, and we need to embrace it.”

Kristen is happily married to her high school sweetheart and husband of 27 years, Chris Tilwick. Together, they have two grown children, Tyler and Kayla.  She is proud to share that her Italian heritage has influenced her in many ways,  from her love of wine to her experiments in the kitchen.  She enjoys cooking family recipes from her Italian grandmother and loves gardening to grow fresh ingredients.  Her family enjoys her culinary experiments and, of course, the more traditional recipes handed down for generations.  A trip to Italy in 2019 seems like a distant memory after almost two years of a pandemic, but she thoroughly enjoyed the food, the wine, and the beautiful countryside.

In this season of giving, it’s only appropriate to recognize that KT2’s favorite Synergis Family Value is Number 13: Give Back – “I have so many things in my life to be thankful for and I think it is always good to give back.  Not just to a charitable cause, but in giving of your time and your presence to friends and family.”

“I believe my work ethic has come from my parents, they were both professionals that worked all their life and set goals that they achieved for themselves and our family.  I believe that hard work pays off.  You are always learning and can never have enough knowledge.”
