John Kavusak: From Star Wars to Solution Architect
By Kristen Tomasic, President, Synergis Technologies, LLC
John Kavusak is a Solution Architect in the Synergis Engineering Design Solutions Division, with expertise in Autodesk Vault, Fusion 360 Manage (aka Fusion Lifecycle/PLM 360), and Autodesk Inventor. John joined Synergis in 2006 as a Helpdesk Technician and quickly transitioned to the role of Application Consultant, working with Inventor and Vault. In that role, John worked onsite with many customers to teach them how to efficiently use Inventor and to implement Vault into their organizations and workflows. Over the past year, due to COVID, we saw significant growth in our Vault and PLM business, so John has been working in a consulting capacity to define SOWs for data migrations and our Vault and Fusion Manage implementations.
John’s technology expertise and his willingness to take on the toughest technical challenges have earned him high praise from customers, our Autodesk technical resource partners, and his peers. His approach to each engagement is to focus on the customer’s desired outcome. “I look to understand the big picture of what the customer is trying to accomplish. That way I can help the customer plan their implementation and prevent unnecessary rework as the project evolves and the customer’s needs grow. I love a good challenge. Every customer’s problems and goals are different. Every project I work on involves solving a new problem. This keeps my role very interesting.”
When John’s not working or with his family and friends, he’s devoting time to his favorite charity, Hockey Fights MS, which was founded in 2005 by Candice Arnold. Their mission is to raise money for research into the cause, cure, and treatment of multiple sclerosis, and to help improve the lives of those living with the disease. John is particularly interested in this cause because Candice is John’s sister, and this charity was founded as a way for this hockey loving family to support other family members who are living with MS. On a personal note, John enjoys spending time with his significant other, Rachel, his stepdaughter Shieloh, and their dog, named Elsa. His all-time favorite movie is the original “Star Wars,” which was released the year John was born and he claims that, over the years, he’s probably watched it a thousand times. John believes the sci-fi/futuristic nature of the movie fueled his early interest in technology – so much so, that by the age of 15, John had his first job building computers at a local computer store.
John’s first boss in the tech field told him once, “There are two ways to do something: Right and Again.” Clearly, John has heeded his advice and to this day, his “never give up” attitude and persistent approach to problem solving are evident in the results and outcomes he delivers for clients!
