Autodesk University 2020 will run from November 17-20, with hundreds of new classes, round table discussions, Q&As and live panels for you to attend, where you can connect with other innovators in your industry from around the world.

Mark is no stranger to the Autodesk University stage. He’s a multi-time presenter having led several instructional demos on Inventor and Vault, and informative sessions on getting the most out of your Autodesk Account. This year, you can catch Mark’s sessions, “Vault Professional Change Order Process 101” and “Autodesk Inventor Nesting Isn’t Just for Sheet Metal.”

The Vault Professional change order process is just one portion of the change management process in Vault. This mechanism helps you track the progress of the change order workflow, and defines the whys, hows and whens of changes made to your design and data. Within the change order system, there’s states, roles/permissions, tasks, notifications, and many other items.  In this session, we will walk through the overall process, including an in-depth look into its configuration/settings and best practices.


You may have thought Inventor Nesting was just geared toward sheet metal components. Learn how to use Inventor Nesting for other types of components and materials. This session will cover how to use different file formats in your nesting process, whether they come from AutoCAD, other 3D CAD Applications, IGES/STEP, or reside in a DXF file format. From setting up your raw materials, templates, and nesting studies, to exporting the results back to your CNC process, this class will clearly demonstrate Inventor Nesting isn’t just about sheet metal! In addition, this session will offer an extra bonus that demonstrates how the Inventor Nesting interface can be used to optimize a saw cut list and costing study for your bar stock material.


“As a longtime Inventor User, I found Fusion 360 interesting, but also challenging. The workflows were close enough to Inventor that I charged right in, but different enough that I went down many dead-ends. And just how does this cloud storage thing work anyway? But I kept at it enough to the point that I am comfortable in either platform. So why did I bother? Besides the obvious answer that learning new software is in my job description, I found that it’s a great platform for easily doing many simulation analyses. And when I started exploring the 3-D machining tools I found the same thing applied there. Plus, it’s easy enough to acquire for home use. So if you haven’t tried Fusion, but you know Inventor or a similar platform, spend an hour to learn the workflows, and save many more!”
