Updated 8/14/19 – Yesterday, August 13, 2019, Autodesk released yet another update (version 9.2.2.2501) to the 2020 product line licensing mechanism. This update can be found in your Autodesk Account or Desktop App. If you haven’t already applied the July 23 update that this original post pertained to, no need to worry – just apply this version instead.
If you’re unsure if the update has been applied on any given machine, you can check the version folder here: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing”
As already indicated in the original blog post:
- Close out all Autodesk applications prior to installing the update
- This update should be applied prior to installing your Autodesk 2020 product line
- If you currently have your 2020 product line, installed and working, you will still need to apply this update to ensure you have the latest licensing mechanism
NOTE: The 2020 product line relies on a new licensing mechanism for any carried over standalone perpetual license or single-user subscription-based product. This mechanism installs a service on your machine and plays an important role when you go to activate your 2020 product. Although the Autodesk Licensing Manager (LMTOOLS) still controls the network or multi-user subscription 2020 product line, this mechanism still plays a role in network-based Autodesk products.
On July 23, 2019, an update to the Autodesk 2020 product line licensing mechanism was released by Autodesk to address certain issues with this service.
If your 2020 products are already installed and functioning, we are recommending that you upgrade this service through your Autodesk Account or Desktop Application. Be sure you do not have any Autodesk applications open and running while performing this update. If you have not already installed your Autodesk 2020 software, we are recommending that you install this new licensing service version prior to installing or deploying your 2020 software.
If you’re unsure if this version has already been installed on your machine you can quickly check to see if its version folder appears here: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing
Please visit this Autodesk Knowledge Network article – which will provide detailed installation instructions.
