One of the quickest complaints from folks updating from an older version of AutoCAD to the 2015 release or newer is what happens when picking objects with a crossing or window. Instead of a nice box they get a funky-shaped outline:
If this happens to you – Congratulations! You’ve found “Lasso Mode”.
If you had clicked for the first corner of the box, then clicked for the second corner you never would have known about this lasso selection. It only comes up with a click and drag to create the box.
This can be turned off very easily. Go into the Options dialog box, to the Selection tab. Clear the check box for “Allow press and drag for Lasso”.
There you go. Back to what you were used to in the earlier release.
Until next time,
