Cement and concrete supplier finds unique application for the Leica ScanStation P40.
An above ground opening was growing, causing a safety issue on a site in Vera Cruz, Mexico. With innovative thinking, the Leica ScanStation was inverted to capture the required data.
Cementos Moctezuma needed to measure and monitor the shaft radius. Secondary to this, was the need to measure accurate volumes. Due to the speed of Leica ScanStation P40, the slow rotating effect from the rope line of the crane was negligible.
Each upside down scan took 33 seconds, rotation of rope line was roughly one revolution per three minutes. Scans where taken roughly every 20 metres.
Deliverables were TIN of shaft, volume calculation and sections every 10 metres.
