In addition to our technical training and support, Synergis offers special events for you to gain industry and professional information. We know that technical knowledge will only get your company ahead if you have a vision and leaders who understand how to move their teams forward. So in September, we are offering the Synergis CAD Productivity Event featuring Robert Green.
Robert Green is a popular industry consultant and contributor for Cadalyst Magazine. He has provided CAD management consulting, programming, training and technical writing services for clients throughout the United States, Canada and Europe since 1991. Robert currently speaks around the world to CAD/BIM managers about his real-world experience in working with top performing companies and recently published Expert CAD Management: The Complete Guide.
We are offering his expertise on two days in different cities so that you can learn more about solving management issues like moving to 3D, setting standards and general tips for being a CAD or BIM Manager. We’ll even offer a roundtable so if your questions are not answered during the day you will have a chance to voice them.
9:00am – 9:30am | Breakfast and Registration |
9:30am – 9:45am | Welcome |
9:45am – 11:00am | CAD Managers Handbook 2013 |
Being a CAD or BIM manager is a multifaceted undertaking that requires a diverse set of management skills. In this session we’ll provide a variety of tips, tricks, technologies, tools and strategies for better managing the CAD/BIM environment in your company. We’ll discuss problem identification, problem solving, user motivation, senior management support, budgeting, training program justification, objection handling and more. This course is product agnostic so don’t worry about what discipline CAD manager you are or if your company has BIM implemented. If you’re frustrated by the management aspect of your job, this class will give you the tools to succeed.
11:15am – 12:15pm | Why Standards Stink and How to Fix Them |
Are you responsible for CAD standards but frustrated because users ignore them? Ever feel like your senior management doesn’t back you up on enforcing standards? If so, you are not alone. In this class, you will learn a methodology for identifying what to standardize, concepts for standardizing your CAD programs, how to use server-based standards management to eliminate managing individual machines and laptops, how to document your standards for training, plus more. If you need to get your standards under control, but have been frustrated by the process, this class is a must.
12:15pm – 1:45pm | Lunch |
1:45pm – 3:00pm | From 2D/CAD to 3D |
Transitioning your company from 2D AutoCAD or Microstation to 3D BIM, mechanical modeling, or civil modeling tools is always tough – but you already knew that. In this session we’ll learn the key factors of 3D work process success: User transition, software transition, ideal hardware configurations, IT issues, training, standards and management support. We’ll use a chronological approach taking you from required planning and budgeting to testing through implementation and training. No matter where you are in the 2D to 3D migration process this class will give you the knowledge to do so with maximum speed, minimal errors and optimal profitability.
3:15pm – 4:00pm | Moderated Roundtable |
Ever wish you could ask questions or get some great tips and ideas from other CAD/BIM managers? This round table style Q&A session will give you the chance to do so. Robert will kick off and moderate this session to keep things moving along but you’ll set the agenda. Bring your best questions and don’t forget your tablet/notepad as you’ll want to write down what you learn from your peers.
4:00pm | Wrap-up |
The cost is only $30 for all four sessions including lunch. We are offering this full day at two locations:
