Date: 3-18-05 Details: AutoCAD Mechanical: Purpose built 2D mechanical engineering
design and drafting application offering significant gains over standard AutoCAD.
Are you taking advantage of the added functionality AutoCAD Mechanical offers
over the base AutoCAD solution?
Are you only using base AutoCAD for your 2D mechanical design?
This software packs powerful tools, such as a content library, that accelerate
mechanical design projects by automating common tasks. And it’s based
on the AutoCAD platform, so it offers all the DWG file compatibility your teams
need to easily share design data with other AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor software
users.
The AutoCAD Mechanical toolset offer many enhancements over AutoCAD:
A single command for most dimensioning needs
Simple tools for tweaking existing dimensions
Easily display or remove hidden lines when parts overlap

Date: July 2007 Details:If you're anything like me, when you install AutoCAD Mechanical you select every option possible including all of the standards because you never know when a project will come up that needs DIN fasteners, GB steel shapes or JIS radial bearings. The only problem with this is managing all 700,000 standard parts when all you need for the current project are a select few fasteners, bearings and steel shapes from the ANSI standard. So how do you go about filtering the library?
