Template File Development
Increase learning and productivity by implementing custom
templates

 |
AutoCAD Mechanical uses many AutoCAD styles and settings as
part of its
productivity enhancements. These settings may differ from corporate
drafting
standards, which can slow product learning and acceptance. Template
files store many
of these AutoCAD drafting settings. It is recommended that custom
templates be implemented
to increase productivity as early as possible.
Creating corporate
standard template files includes the following activities:
1) Company Standards Creation
2) Customizing Layer Settings
3) Customizing Dimension Styles
4) Customizing Dimension Settings
5) Customizing Bills of Material (BOM) Settings
6) Customizing Mechanical Symbols Settings
7) Customizing Special Line Settings
8) Customizing View Settings
9) Customizing Mechanical Drawing Sheets
Upon completion, an AutoCAD Mechanical template file (.dwt),
with documentation of the
settings and items that have been created or modified, is delivered.
This template file
can be saved to individual user workstations or be referenced
by multiple users from a
network server location.
Note: It is highly recommended that Template File Development
be completed prior to
user training. By training users with company specific templates
their productivity upon
returning to their office will be greatly improved.
Standard Part Library Organization
Improve software loading times and reduce time required to locate
frequently
used parts by streamlining the AutoCAD Mechanical standard parts
libraries
Streamlining the standard part library consists of the following
tasks:
1) Standards Activation
2) Library Optimization
3) Library Location
Upon completion, an AutoCAD Mechanical standards parts library
and folder are delivered.
They can be copied to individual machines or located on a server
for networkwide
access.
Standard Parts Libraries Editing Instruction
Save even more time by adding company information, such as Bill
of Material
data and custompart sizes, to existing standard parts libraries<
Instruction for editing the part library value table covers the
following tasks:
1) Adding company part numbers
2) Adding filter designations
3) Adding sizes not currently in the value table
Over-the-shoulder training for one or two individuals is provided
and enables participants
to perform the actual tasks on a copy of AutoCAD Mechanical’s
standard parts library.
The modifications to the stock AutoCAD Mechanical installation
will allow the software
to directly apply company settings during drawing creation. Additionally,
commonly
used parts can be found faster during assembly creation and reduce
the time needed
for design documentation.
This packaged service is a two-day engagement and is non-refundable. Additional
time remaining after all steps of the process have been completed may be
used toward Synergis Manufacturing Solutions onsite services.
